What are we looking for in our Civil Inspector ?
Construction Management and Inspection Services associated with structural pile and concrete repairs. Occasionally provide Construction Management Services associated with civil infrastructure-based work.
Civil/Structural Inspector will be required to perform the following:
Communicate effectively both orally and written; verbal communication includes contract staff, Resident Engineer, facility staff, PA tenants, and contractors. Ability to read plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), controlled inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work. Identify potential extra work issues and keep Resident Engineer advised of issues. Prepare estimates of extra work. Prepare related sketches and documentation. Review plans for constructability and prepare comments. Review contractor payment requests and recommend reasonableness to the Resident Engineer.
INSPECTOR QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of ten (10) or more years of experience inspecting structural construction work, varied in size (projects ranging from $500K to $5 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift).
- Minimum 3-years experience inspecting civil construction work, varied in size (projects ranging from $500K to $2 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift).
- Trained in fall protection, trench excavation, confined space and permit required confined space OSHA regulations and 30-hr OSHA construction safety training.
- Ability to stay late or come in early as needed. Some night and weekend shifts may be required.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card.
- Valid Driver's license required.
