What are we looking for in our Director of Operations ?

The Director of Operations is responsible for meeting the safety, cost, quality, production, delivery, and continuous improvement objectives for the business. The candidate will set manufacturing strategy and oversee daily operations to support manufacturing, integration, aerospace, defense, energy, oil, and paper industries. Near term focus is on scaling the production operation through facilities expansion, process optimization and instilling a lean / continuous improvement culture. The Director of Operations will oversee Managers of Engineering, Materials, Manufacturing, and Quality.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Participates in the hiring and training of departmental managers.

Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of departmental managers.

Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifies opportunities for improvement.

Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business procedures.

Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.

Ensures work environments are adequate and safe.

Oversees engineering, manufacturing, materials, and quality departments, ensuring each is reaching goals set by departmental and company leadership.

Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.

Improves customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.

Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.

Leads coordination and integration of efforts among operations, engineering, technology, and program management to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes.

· Develop site level operational plans and improvement initiatives aligned with business objectives.

 

· Responsible for operations talent acquisition, onboarding, training/development, and leadership succession planning while serving as a role model for integrity, inclusion, and diversity.

 

· Plan and oversee department budgets and production goals through resource prioritization and sales and operations planning

 

· Coordinate multi-disciplinary operations reviews and alignment in manufacturing, supply chain, quality, continuous improvement, and EH&S

 

· Identify and improve current manufacturing processes reducing labor touch and equipment processing time

 

· Review and collaborate on Engineering designs to ensure efficient manufacturability and sustainable production through use Design for Manufacturing / Assembly tools

 

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

 

Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in business and finance.

Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Superior managerial and diplomacy skills.

Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office or related software.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business or Operations Management or related field with a minimum of 15 years (or Graduate Degree with 13 years) of prior related experience.

 

· Multi-disciplinary operations experience in manufacturing, test, supply chain, quality, EH&S and/or operational excellence.

 

· Experience communicating at all levels of the organization and leading cross functional teams

 

Physical Requirements:

 

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Pay: $115,249.00 - $133,360.00 per year
