What are we looking for in our R & D Sample Maker?

PrideNow is hiring a temp-to-hire R&D Sample Maker for one of the top commercial custom seasoning manufacturers and spice distributors in Rock Hill, SC. The R&D Sample Maker position is responsible for assisting the R&D department in the completion of samples and supporting the R&D group in completing project requests.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow all safety procedures, GMPs, and SOPs within R&D, Production, and other areas of Carolina Ingredients.
• Assist in the day-to-day completion of samples for project requests submitted by CII Sales and Staff.
• Follow a formula by accurately weighing out all ingredients on a gram scale and blending according to the procedure for each formula.
• Produce the requested amount of sample, including retaining sample, pack securely, and label correctly with formula code, retain number, description, and date produced.
• Use UPS site for shipping samples – ensure samples go to the correct company/customer contact/location.
• Monitor accuracy of new production “Red Blends” including “Weigh-offs”.
• Assist in the review of ingredient substitutions and replacements.
• Make finished product samples by coating chips, popcorn, and other items as needed.
• Maintaining Sample Retain Log for samples sent out to customers and internal partners.
• Maintain inventory within R&D by keeping ingredient containers filled with fresh ingredients from production inventory.
  • Ensure proper labeling including product code, description, lot number, and date of expiration.
  • Dispose of expired products and follow procedures for record keeping.
  • Accurately log ingredient items and quantities taken from the partial area and warehouse so amounts can be removed from inventory.
  • Keep ingredients, containers, and shelves orderly by discarding old ingredients, broken containers, etc.
• Effectively communicate with R&D Scientists and the R&D Director on samples, ingredients, and projects.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
• Assist R&D in special projects or other duties as assigned by the R&D Director.
• Responsible for managing and maintaining food safety throughout the facility, within the scope of job responsibilities.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Basic knowledge of food ingredients.
• Must possess working knowledge of R&D processes and safety procedures.
• Must be able to successfully multi-task
• Must be able to work independently and be a self-starter.
• Must be able to work in a light to high-noise environment.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Must have excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Must possess basic computer, mechanical, math, and reading skills.
